Music in TV and Film

Musical use in Film was always the topic that interested me the most in musicology. Rather than writing a dissertation in my final year (which would most certainly have been about Wes Anderson’s choice of music for his films) I chose two musicology modules, one per term, on film composers depicted in biopics, and the use of musical comedy in film and TV. Both were a delight to study. By my final year at university, the majority of exams were scrapped so that, besides the end of term essay, we had a range of coursework to do, which included blogs, reviews and video essays. As unorthodox and vocational as they may sound, this forces us to steer away from the conventions of standard essay writing and venture into writing for platforms deemed more popular and appropriate in this modern age of technology.

Below are a few of my favourite pieces of coursework for the music and film modules.
