Since the UK went into lock down at the end of March I have been living back with my parents in Surrey. Thanks to the wonders of the internet I have managed to continue teaching violin using video chat. Being at home with not much else to do – as I only have a handful of students – I have been writing music materials for my students. This is anything from beginner fingering exercises to technique building derived from tricky passages in ABRSM exam pieces. Using my old study books – mainly Sevcik – I’ve devised some step-by-step guides on how to make the most out of playing scales and arpeggios.
I’ve also been arranging easy pieces for my beginner students using Musescore, a free music making programme. This is something I prefer doing rather than downloading a piece online for I can add fingering, bowing and useful information within the music. To access any of these arrangements please check out my resources page.
